Life is full of challenges, isn’t it? At every age and stage of life. For teens, there are lots of potential stresses . . . schoolwork, getting into college or thinking about a job, athletics, developing a feeling of belonging, dating, learning to drive. . . .
Many factors influence whether we experience something as stressful or not. Some fear is not necessarily a bad thing; it was designed to help us survive real danger, by triggering us to fight, flee, or freeze (to become invisible). That’s why we may get angry, try to escape by numbing out, or experience that deer-in-the-headlights paralysis when we’re afraid or highly stressed. Too much fear can interfere with performance, especially when there is no real danger, just a challenging situation.
To do your best work on a test, in athletics, or in other stressful situations, you need to be in a state of relaxed alertness. Simple hypnosis and meditation techniques can help you to create that state of mind. Plus, they’re fun to do, and they can help you to find new ways to respond. These methods are known to increase concentration, reduce anxiety, improve performance on important tests and events, and create a profound feeling of well-being. We also use L.I.F.E. System Biofeedback to reduce stress, soothe the emotions, enhance learning, stimulate balancing the brain, support ADD/ADHD, assist with athletic performance, and more.

Cara Gallucci has taught in academic as well as holistic settings. With experience teaching and tutoring English at college and high school levels, she knows first-hand the stress students experience, and she has seen how experiencing hypnosis and developing a personal meditation practice can dramatically enhance teenagers’ well-being and performance.

The more prepared you are for a given task, the less stressful it will be. Improving skills provides another way to minimize stress, rehearse for important events, increase self-confidence, and improve performance. Some skill building is addressed through hypnosis and visualization. Additional coaching or tutoring may be advisable.

Reiki Energy Healing, a deeply relaxing and profoundly refreshing technique, works on mental, emotional, and physical levels. It increases vitality while calming anxiety. In addition, Reiki can assist in changing attitudes and behaviors. In this way, it can expand the inner resources available to deal with stressful situations.
